She won an Oscar playing Helen Keller, that's all I know. The only absolutely sure things are Death, and taxes.

A lot of people were dismayed at the result of the Presidential election this week, and many demonstrated against it.

But Hey! that's no way to say goodbye, Leonard.

Sad to hear of the death from cancer today of the journalist and restaurant critic A A Gill, aged 62. His articles were usually quite progressive, which makes it seem odd that he was once married to Amber Rudd and was a friend of Jeremy Clarkson. This was a piece he wrote about Brexit just before the EU referendum in June:-

A loss in more than one sense. Adrian Gill had a command of the English language which made almost anything of his worth reading, with humour; wit; and erudition. The title of his autobiography makes reference to his alcoholism - which unlike many sufferers he overcame by abstaining.

Incidentally, he was not "friends" with Clarkson for very long.
