Is Saudi Arabia’s mantra “with slavery and injustice for women?”
Saudi report: Women driving spurs premarital sex
Associated Press AP – 9 hrs ago
RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (AP) — A report given to a high-level advisory group in Saudi Arabia claims that allowing women in the kingdom to drive could encourage premarital sex, a rights activist said Saturday.
Rights activist Waleed Abu Alkhair said the document by a well-known academic was sent to the all-male Shura Council, which advises the monarchy. The report by Kamal Subhi claims that allowing women to drive will threaten the country's traditions of virgin brides, he said.

The same report allegedly said that women who insisted upon travelling in a car should use Taxis. But travelling in a car with a man who is not a relative is illegal for women.
Western feminists are trying to persuade their Saudi sisters to study the ancient Greek Play "Lysistrata".
Meantime, in Syria, women in "rebel" areas such as Homs apparently have more pressing problems, like state-sponsored rape.

Re: Is Saudi Arabia’s mantra “with slavery and injustice for women?”
Maybe when the women drive they encourage 'rape?' This might be considered to men as well though, as anything that pre empts women to be bad might be bad for all! If women may not drive, why should men drive? This will have a terrible impact on the economy, as they will a terrible car sales amount.
You know, I just don't want rockonbrother to start a tirade of similar or related issues on the area. But, this is stupid. If the woman drives her kids to school, or drives her sick husband to work, of course these are good things. If a woman has sex before marriage, it is natural, not animal like.
But this alone does not start a reform for more changes does it? If women could drive it would be a good thing, then people would say what about other things? Of course some people fear change, but as soon as the king is gone, then it will return to the men. I cannot see a war being fought over this, as the people are happy with this system of rule.
The way things go here, it is like paradise. No crime, no attacks, great health care - these people have it all, and that comes from stiff resistance to change. They won't be willing to give that up - this way of life is worth having less rights. But how women driving has anything to do with thm driving to lovers, when the lovers could just drive to them, is beyond me.

Depending upon personal circumstances. South Africa's new secrecy law, The Protection of Information Bill, provides 25-year prison sentences for Reporters and Editors who publish Classified Information.
The Bill results from criticism of the wealthy life-style adopted by ANC Officers from Jacob Zuma downwards. The "Mail and Guardian" newspaper has resorted to printing stories with self-censorship deletions as was the practice under White dominated Apartheid.

I meant there, there as in saudi arabia. Think of it... people too scared to commit crimes, and crime isn;t even a part of their culture it seems.

Heh, it seems things are the same all over the world: Religion and its preoccupation with sex. I'm convinced that sex is all that religion really cares about.

Is Saudi Arabia’s mantra “with slavery and injustice for women?”
Saudi Woman Beheaded for ‘Witchcraft’
By RANDY KREIDER | ABC News – 12 hrs ago
A Saudi woman was beheaded after being convicted of practicing "witchcraft and sorcery," according to the Saudi Interior Ministry, at least the second such execution for sorcery this year.
The woman, Amina bint Abdulhalim Nassar, was executed in the northern Saudi province of al-Jawf on Monday.
A source close to the Saudi religious police told Arab newspaper al Hayat that authorities who searched Nassar's home found a book about witchcraft, 35 veils and glass bottles full of "an unknown liquid used for sorcery" among her possessions.

It's not an Islam thing tho... they do the same in the back waters of India.
It goes like this... Men see girl. Men like girl. Men put hard work on girl. Girl screams and fights her way through rape. Men see local Witch Doctor and accuse girl of being a Witch. Witch Doctor more often than not agrees, which gives men the licence to bash and hack the woman to death.

So maybe it's a Hindu/ Islam thing?
Nah... it's just abuse of superstition.

It's fortunate for Margret Thatcher she was born in Britain and not Saudi, or she would definately been for the chop.

We wouldn't even give two damns what happened in the Middle East if not for the oil. Allying with these people is such an embarrassment. First they give women the right to vote then turn around and behead a woman for witchcraft. And here I thought they were making progress. Remember that "the authorities" were responsible, implying this wasn't some backwater tribal nonsense. What worries me is the fact that this superstitious society, barely out of the Bronze Age and executing women for witchcraft, are flying around in F-15s and driving M1A1 Abrams main battle tanks.

The US has a history of killing so called witches.
Intolerance and superstition led to several "witch" trials in colonial Boston (similar to Salem Massachusetts). In general, the final result of such trials was the elimination of any person deemed undesirable by the community. Quakers and supposed "witches" were hanged for their beliefs or opinions. In 1656, Anne Hibbons was hanged at Boston Neck for being a witch. Below is a paraphrased excerpt from Rambles Around Old Boston by Edwin M. Bacon (1914):

What they are doing and we did is despicable, but not new.

The United States has no “history of killing so called witches.” To save an exchange, United States history begins certainly by 15 December 1791 (two hundred twentieth birth date tomorrow), perhaps as early as 1783 (Treaty of Paris), 1781 (Yorktown), 1776 (4 July, Philadelphia), 1775 (Boston), or even a bit earlier in the 1770s (Crispus Attucks’ death).

Yes I knew that would probably come up when I wrote the post, should have put in the correct century and that it was before we became the United States.

I’m unaware that “the USA make such a fuss about Thanks Giving.” For informational purposes, my family remembers and thanks God for English colonists’ survival (specifically, a few who were severely persecuted by their ‘fellow’ Englishmen) during Thanksgiving, one word, not two.

It’s an important distinction. Because of the dates, rather than the United States, it is the United Kingdom that “has a history of killing so called witches.”

Sometimes I get sloppy when I write, or rather I have a habit of just typing whatever comes across by brain. I'll work on it. The people I've posted with forever know just what I'm saying, scary isn't it.It’s an important distinction. Control Games by any other name.
In some places, just being a woman seems to be contrary to religious laws.
