Making the forum user-friendly
Some of you will have noticed that as part of my attempts to make the forum as user-friendly as possible, I often move threads to a more appropriate board. I also merge topics which are similar, rather than 'dilute' any discussion over two or more threads.
If you start a thread or post a message and you later find it isn't where you posted it, please don't jump to the conclusion that it's been deleted. (Hardly any messages are deleted, they will usually be edited if parts of them contravene the house rules on posting.) Before complaining, please check that your message or thread isn't somewhere else on the forum, it probably is. Thanks.

Re: Making the forum user-friendly
It would probably be best that a post be left in the appropriate thread stating that the thread has been moved and where it was moved to.

Re: Making the forum user-friendly
That's a good idea. I will leave a trace for 48 hours on the board from which a thread is moved.
Re: Making the forum user-friendly
I left traces when I moved three threads - but by 12 hours later, the traces had disappeared!
When I merge threads which are very similar, there is no mechanism for leaving traces, but at least the messages are likely to be on the same board as where they were first posted.
As I said previously, don't jump to the conclusion that your message has been deleted if you can't find it immediately.
