Sometimes life has a strange way of sweeping you along and introducing you to people and subjects you would never otherwise have known. Please read my blog and appreciate the people who are there to protect and rescue you and yours, and so much more! They help to protect our environment as well as rescue it from pollution, they are the unsung hero's of today and sadly may not make it to tomorrow...

The government in its infinite wisdom has decided upon 50% station closures and have concealed all the vital facts submitted by our Coastguards in order to do so. I think we all know if they are allowed to achieve these insane cuts at a time when pleasure sports account for more incidents than ever before upon our seas, mountains and shores, then the next step will be total closure...

Please now read my blog which is written on a more emotional level and then I ask you to gather everyone possible and spread this sad message and please get them to sign Coastguardsos.com . Our Coastguards are not just vital to our safety or that of our country but also offer so much more to a nation that is vastly losing its heritage, pride and dignity. They can teach our youngsters admiration and devotion to a job that is built upon inherited knowledge, intensive training and a respect and understanding of the land and sea and weather surrounding them.

Thankyou so much and here it is http://wp.me/p26VNe-10 take care and please dont forget to Coastguardsos.com Misti xx

Coastguards no more Empty Re: Coastguards no more

HM Coastguard has been in retreat under successive Governments since the end of WW2. The current reduction in government spending follows the Thatcher doctrine of "Consumer pays". Unfortunately, sailors are a minority of the population, and even then only become directly involved during emergencies, so to the majority of taxpayers the benefit is indirect.

To confuse matters even further, most people make no distinction between HM Coastguard and the RNLI. Paradoxically, marine rescue operations WORLDWIDE may sometimes be co-ordinated from Falmouth.

Good luck in your mission, mistidebonno.

From across the water, I applaud your effort. Where would we be without your Coastguards during the years when you stood alone? And “we” includes “me”, because the world into which I was born might not have existed had the United Kingdom not stood strong.

If it makes a difference, I’ll sign it from over here as a grateful recipient of the gift bestowed upon me and mine by you Coastguards.

News today is of the US Coastguard rescuing Australian and British crew from a racing yacht off California, injured in a storm.

Around Britain's coastline the Service has been drastically reduced since 1945, along with Defence spending in general. Obviously it is expensive to maintain wartime levels of preparedness but History records the terrific scramble to re-arm Britain's forces in 1937-8-9 that was very nearly insufficient.

New Orleans, August 2005: US Coast Guardmen save lives after Katrina. When myopic folks need them and they aren't there, myopic folks will realize their folly.

Thankyou for your comments!!! Such sad times when the very people we depend upon for our safety are being forced out by our Government! Time and time again they have had to backtrack where our Coastguards are concerned but it is always after they have been proven wrong and lives have been lost...

Coastguards no more Empty Coastguard Video by Misti feasturing Jessie J's Lasorlight...

My focus of recent months has been on campaigning against the 50% station closures being imposed by our government. I have compiled footage taken from the coastguards own videos to form the following, I hope you enjoy and please go to Coastguardsos.com and Add names, we have two weeks left to fight for our rights to a full Coastguard service compared to a central call centre system. Loss of local knowledge and stations will cost lives!!!

Please enjoy:-

A Prime Minister instructed all Government Departments to report back to her on how much PROFIT they were generating from their activities. If the only thing they could demonstrate was providing a Public Service at public expense, each Department had to charge the COST of that service directly to the user - or stop providing it.

The direct opposite of any Government safeguard for its People.
Nice to know where you stand.

The only hope we have is that the British Public does not vote in a Tory Government in 2015. If it does, some of us will be very cross indeed.... Shocked

The moral of which is, Keep it simple. Vote for the Party you favour. Voting strategically may result in simply getting it all wrong.
