Ivanhoe

She should be put in the stocks and pelted with rubbish.

These disgusting comments are followed by this-- Telegraph extract

More than 50 Remploy factories employ 3,000 people, but they operate at a huge loss. They had expected to continue receiving a grant of £111 million each year, for the next five years, from the Department of Work and Pensions.

It is understood that many of the factories will be earmarked for closure as part of next week’s spending review. Remploy’s employment service – which has secured jobs for thousands of disabled people at private companies.

Iain Duncan Smith, the Work and Pensions Secretary, and George Osborne, the Chancellor, will face fierce criticism for what will be seen as a callous pulling of services for the least fortunate.

This has already started today in Wales where unemployment is already out of control even for those who are fit and healthy.

This Tory led government is the worst ever and should be ousted at the earliest, even if that means the unions bringing the country to a standstill.

Mel. I could not agree more. But this wont happen because we are British. And frankly I am ashamed to be British because we are such an apathetic nation generally.

I wonder what Bluey has to say about all this ?

Tesch & Stabenow a pest control company founded in 1924 in Hamburg, Germany, which was a major supplier of Zyklon B to the Nazi extermination camps during World War II, is no longer in business, you see.

its a sicking act by a government that has no social morality at all...What is £111 million to an economy like ours? its utter peanuts...The House of Commons bars and other restaurants would cost more than this..if we need this £111 million so very bad lets cut all the bars and restaurants in the house of Commons as well. lets face it...there are 100s of bars and restaurants within walking distance of the commons...after that we could cut down on House of Commons cars and other odds and sods....lets face it they could walk to number 10 if they need too. or pay for a cab out of there own pocket...

Good though Mel's message about Maria Miller is, we don't need to have it repeated in full twice in the course of the next six postings. If you want to refer to an earlier posting, a quote of one or two sentences will suffice. If you're referring to the most recent posting, just the name of the poster will do. Thanks. Ivan

I remember the Thatcher / Major years after years of chipping away and removal of employees rights and basic minimum working conditions.

I can remember the wages councils been abolished, I can also recall how minimum rights were stripped from all under 21s making them vulnerable to the worst kind of exploitation.

During the previous Conservative regime it was perfectly legal for a shop owner to employ a 19 year old on £1 per hour with no basic holiday rights and no right to claim unfair dismissal, the government at the time said was helping young people back into work.

What the Tories always do is make employment cheap or even free for businesses to swell their profits with little or no outlay, the Tories havent changed and never will.

Give big business a helping hand by driving down wages and living standards for those at the bottom of the pile, and for good measure hit the sick and disabled at the same time, but leave the bankers to rake in their fat bonuses.

Tories - they never change

How true this is witchfinder. And to think how many people, who in my view, voted totally naivelly for this draconian idioligy at the last general when they voted for Cameron, and to think Clegg and his front benchers are supporting him.

Surely this is the whole point. Why take money from a business that is proven to work - giving work and getting jobs - to give to another department that will probably absorb it in general running cost. At the same time putting people out of work.
True some of the factories are making losses, but we are still going to have to support these sacked workers - probably in the long term.

The old term comes to mind. Better the devil you know than the devil you don't know.

Remploy - for all its faults (losses etc) - works for the disabled. This Government is ..........

You've all, UK anyway, heard the childs song 'Here we go gathering nuts in May'. That's what this Government say they are trying to do. Look to the future. 'Store' up for the future generations a better future.
Problem is with the song, there are no 'nuts to gather in May'. They come later in the year.
Now is not the time to make wholesale changes. Get us - the country - on a better footing first so we can afford to make changes.

I finish with my usual ' but then, what do I know'.Smile

Two hundred years ago, a British diplomat defined his job as, "Going abroad to tell lies on behalf of my Country."

Now of course they don't even bother to travel abroad, the Tory "spokespersons" have been taught how to tell lies without blushing.

Yes and the British largely believe, because they do not know any better, and people abroad have been equally brainwashed to due to the "great" in Britain which has always been.

As this Tory-led Coalition plainly believes in the axiom, "Survival of the Fittest", the best advice we could give them is to go and have a medical check-up. With someone akin to Doctor Shipman.
