'Toffee Apples And Togas' by Rita Roberts
It is quite some time since I picked up a book that I didn't want to put down again. Rita's book is one of those rare books. It charts her life from her beginnings in a two up, two down house in Birmingham, her childhood evacuation and her early married life. She explains how she took up numerous challenges, from opening her own antique shop to learning how to analyse ceramics. Next on the list was the launch of her own range of 'Apicius' cooking sauces, made to authentic ancient recipes, and her participation in the world of historical re-enactment events. She then moved to Crete where she is deeply involved in community archaeology. Rita's enthusiasm and determination shine from every page. What will Rita do next?
