Where are you, members?
Hi Members.
Just one question to you all, have I done something wrong or upset you?
As I seem to be taking over the forum with my answers/posts, and not getting any replies.
I am not that much of a meglomaniac that likes to see my name everywhere,
Also I do not think my answers have bought each thread to a halt do you?
So come on out of hibernation and start posting folks to liven the forum up some.

Hmm, not sure if this thread makes sense!
If members aren't here, are they likely to see this and respond??

Re: Where are you, members?
We're here, Stuart. Or, at least I am! I can't really contribute to political discussion because I'm not a fan. Same with religion. Beyond that, life just seems to be busy lately, especially now that my son is in middle school. More homework to keep on top of!
Re: Where are you, members?
Sorry moonbeam, I did not want it to seem like I was badgering members, it just felt like I was taking the forum over
As I had answered all the posts that came up with no reply a lot of the time, you make sure you look after your sons homework as that is more important.

Hi, Stuart - I think the forum does go through quiet times
I have been quite glad about your efforts to stimulate discussion at a time when the rest of us seem to have less to say.
I expect things will get a bit noisier by and by
- meanwhile, your chatty self is a tonic to me anyway

You're probably the one person well suited to be the forum's archivist, Stu.

Can I ask you OW, why you think that, when you have been here longer and would surely know more about the forum than myself.

Re: Where are you, members?
I didn't know what to write about after being absent due to alien abduction, so here's a recipe for pancakes instead:
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon white sugar
1 1/4 cups milk
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter, melted
1. In a large bowl, sift together the flour, baking powder, salt and sugar. Make a well in the center and pour in the milk, egg and melted butter; mix until smooth.
2. Heat a lightly oiled griddle or frying pan over medium high heat. Pour or scoop the batter onto the griddle, using approximately 1/4 cup for each pancake. Brown on both sides and serve hot.

Why does the cook always have to eat the first pancake?

Thinking-do be Patient, your recipe lacked one thing i'm afraid, the topping? usually fresh oranges or lemons cut in half and squeeze the juice over pancake.

Yes the 'private one'.
I've just burned my pancakes after all this excitement and secrecy.
They are all black and thin and I think I can hear Bono singing a song about them.

Hullo, thinking - hope the aliens treated you well.
Try another batch of pancakes - I'm sure they'll turn out better

Often a good plan- if you don't want to decorate your kitchen ceiling with a tasteful pattern of half-cooked pancakes

Re: Where are you, members?
The heading to this topic reminds me of the regular exhortations of one Parish Priest who regularly lashes his congregation about the dwindling number of parishioners attending Church services.
His message is received only by the blameless, not his intended audience who obviously weren't there to hear it.

Where Are You?
Hazarding a guest this means where am I? in real time, it's totally sensible.
I'm in the United States, the Greater Ohio River Valley, next to the city of Cincinnati.
Are any others of you in the U.S. ... besides Moonbeam of course. Hello Denver. Hi Moon.

Hi, Beth
I believe James Thurber came from your neck of the woods - and that's all I know about that - geography was never one of my talents.
Not sure how many Americans we have at present - there used to be a bit of traffic on the American politics threads but that seems to have died down. Maybe your contributions will liven things up.
Speaking for myself, I live in a seaside town in Norfolk, England, and spend a lot of the time in the summers cruising on the Norfolk Broads - hence the avatar - but that's not my boat - mine is MUCH smaller

Hi Beth! It's considering being spring here in Denver. It's nice more often, but it did snow some yesterday. I'm ready for that warmer weather!

Sounds like a lovely place to live.
U.S. Politics is just getting on track for the '16 elections. Yours are coming sooner, so that's where the current interest surely must lie. My view is rather mixed because so many of my U.K. peeps are conservative ... mostly because of disputes about immigration and the EU. But, since I'm an American centrist who leans left, I try to get an idea of both sides.
I'll probably do more reading than writing but promise to comment when I have something to say.
To the pancake people .. I like a little lemon syrup on mine.

Hi Moon

Someone told me yesterday if I'd stop running in circles trying to find spring, it would find me.

That will probably come in the form of Easter. Very early this year but it should get us off to a start.
I should probably mention our current claim to fame is the #1 U of KY Wildcats (basketball) ... just down the road and my alma mater. They just broke into the Elite Eight (NCAA Tournament) and we hope, in a few days, they'll be our national champs. There are 7 other teams hoping for the same thing so this will be quite a sport week for us.
More next time.
X Beth
Re: Where are you, members?
To loosely follow Beth fph's example, I am on the top floor of a 3 storey house 200 yards away from a 650' cliff on the edge of the North York Moors - or, in other words, I'm HERE!
