Housing for all!
There is a need for houses in my country south africa, as i am sure there is everywhere else too. The problem is when people move from the rural areas into the cities and cannot find accomodation, nor work. They end up living in shacks, of course. I saw in brazil they also got big shanty towns, so what can be done about this problem?
If we were to mass produce wendy houses, we could put a once off price onto luxury items for the rich. For the time specified, the rich would pay extra for luxury items, like cars and such. This is not vat, but runs along gst. They always say that there should be redistribution of wealth, so this could be a step in the rght direction. If there was, say for two months, a price hike on luxury items like cars and caviar, perfume and deodorant - anything that is not needed to live, even toilet paper! - then there would be enough money to build all the shack dwellers safe little wendy houses.
In south africa there are rdp houses that are built out of cement, but they are very small. Surely this small step down to get something permanent below the feet of the shack dwellers would go a long way?
Any other ideas?

China is having a real issue with this, as well. They have entire ghost cities designed for 300,000 residents but only have a population of a few hundred people. In other cities, people holding professional jobs - engineers, computer programmers, etc. - are living in shacks with 10-15 other people in the shadow of virtually empty high-rise luxury condos. Housing is available, but as per usual when the profit motive is involved, landlords would rather cater to the wealthy, not the poor or middle class. Thus housing prices in China are astronomical and far above the fair market value of such space. So ... their ghost cities sit empty and people continue living in hovels.
