Well with two weeks before the Rugby starts, I'll give the start of English Premier League my full attention (well apart from the test series)!

Who will win?
Who Will lose their job first?
Who will be in the relegation dog fight?

How will your team get on? My team Southampton are back in the big time after 7yrs!

But who will win the Premier League?

Not sure that Sky Sports have decided yet. They may like to see Manchester City do it again, but they could be tempted by Chelsea - with a late run by Liverpool to make it interesting. Must be confusing for all those referees who just don't know whom to favour from one Saturday to the next, until they receive those all-important phone calls mid-week.... Shocked

Well considering Saints lost, I'm happy with that. Losing 3-2 to one of the top teams in Europe at home on the opening day, the boys did well! Looked a better side with Rickki Lambert and Steven Davis on the pitch in the second half.

Next up Wigan at St Marys!

Who will win? Well I have a feeling that Man City will just hold on to the championship, as I am just not sure about Man Utd's back four.
Who will Lose their Job first? A hard one this... But have a feeling it could be Tottenham manger as that is a hard act to follow
Who will be in the relegation dog fight? Well you could pick any of the bottom ten teams, Aston Villa, Norwich, Reading, West Ham, Southampton, Fulham, W.B.A, Q.R.R, Swansea, to name just a few. as always one team will drop like a stone.

My Team.... West Ham Utd... 19th in the league if lucky if not relegated.

The trouble with the Prem league is the top four will be them same each year with them just finishing in different places within the Top four. with Newcastle and Spurs and Sunderland fighting in out for 5th 6th 7th. after that is just pot luck how you finish.

Me neither! Apparently Nigel Adkins thought De Prado's speed would be better. Alas but both him and jay rodrigez were aweful!

It is a truth universally acknowledged that Economists can't do sums. A Point is a Point, whenever in the season it is scored (or conceded). If relegation hangs on a single point it matters not whether that Point was lost in the first week of the season or the last.

Tennis commentators are notorious for saying things like, "He's given himself a lot to do by losing the first set." He sure has - it may take two extra set-wins to pull back from that one set-defeat.

Yes I Saw this result and losing at home to Wigan is not at all helpful my friend. as to stay up in this league is about wining as many home games as you can. Still West Ham lost at Swansea as I though we would do. but then its away game so not so bad. but then this is why our two teams are tipped for the drop to be fair. but remember its a very long season and their will be many up and downs. but a defeat at home to Wigan is just not a very good move at all. but the good new is AV look even worse than both our teams and Spurs look like a team that is totally lost on the pitch

so it could be far worse

What's more OW a Economists like myself should have as little too do with football as possible as its a very poor mix ha ha ha

Badger - Are you suggesting that not all Manchester United fans live in that fair city of my mother's birth?

My elder son professes himself to be an ardent follower of Liverpool FC although we live quite some way from there. After a recent visit to Scouseland, however, the young fellow suggested to me that it was the most friendly city he had been to for some time. An enquiry as to whether, therefore, he had been staying in Damascus of late met with a unrepeatable response... Shocked

A splendid day at Twickenham yesterday convinced me still further that, when it comes to a real competitive ball game with a complete absence of play-acting and little overpaid cheating weasels rolling around feigning injury, there is nothing to beat a good afternoon's Premiership rugby union.

The vast majority of those soccer supposed 'hard men' would not last ten minutes in that company. Actually, make that five.... Shocked

The true test of hardness comes after the match when you try to catch a train away from Twickenham station. But they are finally rebuilding the access, after sixty years of squalor.

The queuing / departure only took about an hour - with golden opportunities to admire the Police horses and boost the local burger van economy.

Good service back into Waterloo -even got a seat, after a few last-ditch tackles on a couple of elderly ladies as the carriage doors opened.

Cameron should be pleased at how innovative many of the householders of Twickers are. On the way to the ground all manner of parking facilities, doughnut stalls and hot sausage offerings had sprung up in random front gardens ( doubtless with no planning permission in the spirit of 'no dither') . Some of the entrepreneurs may even be paying tax on their earnings... Shocked
