Do the Labour Party know what or who they're fighting?
Apathy. Distrust. Lack of understanding. And that's only the Labour back-benchers. These weapons are multiplied within the general public. Why else would the Tories be a minority government?
Over the past 5 years the Tories have pushed through one bad law after another. All of them expressed with unseemly haste and almost without exception unpopular and badly conceived and written. Many have been challenged in Court and most have been found wanting.
But none by the Labour Party.
They have, in general half heartedly attacked some of the more heartless attacks by this government and consequently have loitered near a tie with the most unpopular government in the last two centuries.
But then the attack on tax evasion brought that longed for peak in popularity to be followed by a crushing silence.
So in my opinion they know how to fight yet haven't utilised it and brought the blood boiling in the hearts of those who reject cronyism and unfairness.
So yes they can beat the Tories.
But what for? Trust is a political gem. And that is the prize.
Blairism is a bad joke now and needs to be eradicated. And if Tories appear to be happy to receive millions in donations from people who have consequently made millions individually, the Labour Party has no better way of proving its potential popularity and honesty than standing with the Trade Unions and not to one side.

Re: Do the Labour Party know what or who they're fighting?
I think those sentiments are widely understood in and beyond the Labour Party, but there is an acknowledged disparity between them and the well-financed Tory publicity machine. As a result, whatever Miliband or his team say there will be instant rebuttal, an unfair allocation of blame, and resurrection of old slogans.
A still tongue makes a wise head. We'll see in the first week of May whether the British electorate has more sense than it is being credited with on the pages of Cutting Edge.

Once you give up party democracy and depend on the bosses' media, you find that your careerists tend to be muddled,I suppose.

I hope your talking about the Tories Penderyn because it is the Tories that are using the majority of the media in a smear campaign of Ed Miliband & the Labour party,. They are not just careerists they want to line there pockets through there shares in the private health company shares and they are selling off our NHS to achieve that.

That was the mistake Blair made. Only tories can get support from those buggers - socialists depend on mass democratic membership.
