Re: Political cartoons
At a certain point, satire stops being funny. I think that the Tories conduct of the NHS has definitely reached that point.
So what are we going to do about it (apart from more cartoons, that is)?

Re: Political cartoons
There's a protest march - in early March
I think it's clear that satire doesn't touch the perpetrators of all this destruction - they don't care if we laugh at them as long as they stay in power.
Getting them out of power in a democracy requires a strong and united opposition along with a strong will on the part of the electorate for change - don't see either of those at present

Re: Political cartoons
There’s nothing funny about most Tory policies, especially when they cause deaths in hospitals or of benefit claimants and leave millions of children in poverty. However, ridiculing those in authority has long been a recognised weapon and can sometimes be more effective than just expressing justifiable anger, which we do regularly on the "NHS safe in Tory hands" thread. One of the many things that undermined John Major’s authority was the idea, first put about by Alastair Campbell, that he tucked his shirt into his underpants. Go back two thousand years and you will find that Augustus Caesar banned jokes about the Roman emperor because he feared their devastating impact. The intense and violent Muslim reaction to cartoons is a reminder of their recognition of the power of ridicule.At a certain point, satire stops being funny. I think that the Tories conduct of the NHS has definitely reached that point.

I do hope you're right, Ivan - at present, we seem to be awash with people who know absolutely what's happening - but there don't seem to be that many that have a plan to change things.
And those that do seem to have a plan keep getting sidelined

And so, my fellow Americans: ask not what your country can do for you — just wait and see what it's going to do for me !

Re: Political cartoons
that second one has it in a nutshell - except there isn't really a safe place any more for those who choose the complex but right route

Re: Political cartoons
In anticipation?
"Speak roughly to your little boy, And beat him when he sneezes;
He only does it to annoy, Because he knows it teases."
.... and how The Donald loves to tease !
