Welcome and introductions
First topic message reminder :
Around the autumn of 2007 I came across the MSN message boards and found one entitled "UK Politics" which I joined and enjoyed for over three and a half years, then around April 2011 MSN decided in their wisdom to close down that particular message board.
Over time the MSN message board posters had become like friends, and though I had never met any of them, they became as familiar as the regulars I have a pint with in the local village pub, one or two were fairly nasty and quite vile, most were very pleasant people.
Fortunately, one of the redundant MSN bloggers (Ivan) decided to start his own political blogging site, and many of the old MSN posters followed him to his newly created site, and after a competition to find a name, it was agreed to call it "Cutting Edge".
I have to point out that Ivan ran things in a very fair and democratic way, the members decided the rules, they chose the name and logo, several of us were appointed as moderators and common sense prevailed.
Unfortunately the host of our board was "ProBoards" whom I would definately NOT recommend to anyone, they pulled the plug and closed Cutting Edge down saying that we had broken the rules.
To this day we still do not know what rule(s) were broken, and by whom, we wrote very polite emails to ProBoards asking for an explanation, but we got no answer other than "you broke the rules".
And so here we are WELCOME

Hi, I'm Jo - I initially came across here via Gill Mawson and Ivan invited me to post on her thread about her book, as I did my undergraduate dissertation on the Channel Island WWII evacuations. After 5 fun years at the University of Glasgow doing Economic & Social History with French, I'm now a Business Development Assistant at the Said Business School at the University of Oxford. Looking forward to exploring!

Been awhile since I posted. Hello to all who are new, and to all who ... aren't.(I didn't want to say hello to all who are old!) Looks like the board is growing. Congrats! I'm so glad things are coming along for you here.

Apologies for my continued absence from the forum due to numberous hospital stays over the last few months. I'll be dipping in and out as my health allows.
Re: Welcome and introductions
Yes, indeed, the password problem is exceeded only by the servant problem, and an example of that is when you have to tell the Master before Dinner that the pie without the portion of parsley is the pie without the poison. Now say that again very carefully - the pie with the poison is not the pie with the parsley. Are you sure about that?

Re: Welcome and introductions
Thank you, Red, for accepting my invitation to join us.
I think a lot of our members may still have the traditional Sunday lunch, followed by an afternoon snooze in a chair, but this forum has been quiet recently. Reasons include the holiday festivities and the "instant gratification" of Twitter, and that's in addition to the proliferation of forums because certain individuals feel the need to go and start new ones.
Please rest assured that we're trying to reinvigorate the place. In the last 24 hours, I've written to about 50 of our members to remind them that we are still here. I hope that at least some of them will grace us with their presence soon!

Welcome Wendy!
Re: Welcome and introductions
Thanks folks! I'll be contributing soon. What subject to pick first is my dilemma - unions, war, debt or my hatred of the tories.

You can never go far wrong with hatred of the Tories

Sorry Ivan
Hi Ivan,
Thanks for keeping me as a member. My son set me up with Feedly some time ago and I'm afraid I get snowed under with all the blog postings/articles I am set up to receive (currently about 1400 to be read!). I don't mean to be negligent but despite being retired, there aren't enough hours in the day. I will try to be better organised in future!
Kind regards, Gillian

Hi Gillian and welcome - are you the Swiss-based Gill from Twitter?
Hello Steve, thanks! Yes I'm the Swiss-based one, trying to make as big a nuisance as possible of myself when it comes to getting rid of this awful Coalition government, plus I can't stand injustice of any kind.

Excellent! The picture wasn't showing when I asked, or I'd have known! Welcome. Lots of good ammunition for stirring and fomenting here.kalty wrote: Hello Steve, thanks! Hello all, I found you through Steve Walker whose blog I follow. I guess I must describe myself as the worst enemy of the Tory Party being a disabled pensioner on benefits. Look forward to reading your comments and hopefully joining in and making sense. Cheers
