Are you left or right?
Following on from Ivans political compass...
I've done this test a few times over the years so not surprisingly the result for me was as expected, more or less.

For myself, I find the Guy Fawkes scale quite adequate.

Economic Left/Right: -1.50
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 0.62
What a fix, no allowance for a neutral answer, similar to the complaint Steve made about the tory yes/no answer quiz.
Having said that I'm apparently left leaning because of my caring/nurturing nature so it can't be too bad.

Nah astradt, still right wing with a touch of social conscience. The questions are too rigid to allow a truly honest answer, your either a raving lunatic or totally a socialist and I don't know anybody like that.

Psychometric test questions often present the respondent with 'quandary' choices and usually avoid providing middle of the road answers to select. The reality of the personality comes out, over a range of questions, more clearly when some pressure is applied by forcing a selection among difficult alternatives. Easy answers would reveal nothing.
Re: Are you left or right?
I had a go anyway (and tried to answer honestly). Apparently I'm:
Economic Left/Right: -7.62
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -4.92

How Tory are you?
Take the test to see how Tory you are, and maybe share the results with us:-

Nuffink. Not a sossidge! I'm a failure (sob). I'll try to do better in the New Year - I could kick a pensioner's stick away, or tell the Liberals I'm going to vote for them, when they come to the door.
Happy Christmas to all the other failures, though!

Who should you support in EU elections?
HP has a EUVox questionnaire about which party best fits your beliefs, interesting results.........

Re: Are you left or right?
Interesting is one way of putting it! I took the survey and it said I should support 1. The Green Party, 2. The Liberal Democrats, 3. Labour.
I have a lot of time for the Green Party, and you can’t say that any vote is ‘wasted’ in EU elections because proportional representation is used across very large constituencies. If I lived in the appropriate half of Brighton, I would be tempted to vote for Caroline Lucas in next year’s general election.
The Liberal Democrats, and their predecessor the Liberals, have been consistently pro-EU since the ‘Common Market’ was formed without us back in 1957. On Twitter I’ve got to know retiring Lib Dem MEP Rebecca Taylor who, unlike those UKIP slobs, has worked hard in the EU Parliament. However, hell will freeze over before I’d vote for the Liberal Democrats after what they’ve allowed the Tories to do to this country for the last four years.
I shall vote Labour on Thursday, in the hope of securing a second Labour MEP for the south east region. But I hope those who don’t want to vote Labour will vote for the Greens, or even the Liberal Democrats, rather than not vote at all. Both the Tories and UKIP are in alliances in the EU Parliament which include far-right extremists, homophobes, Nazi lovers and even admirers of the mass murderer Anders Breivik.

Re: Are you left or right?
If only it were so simple. Whichever party we elect to Brussels, they will already have an understanding with similar parties from other Nations to vote in common cause. Some of those parties however can make rather uneasy bedfellows for a British MEP.

Re: Are you left or right?
Ivan, I glad it wasn't just me. I got 1, lib dem. 2, Labour and 3 Greens.....
I have only ever voted lib dem once and that was back in the early 1980's and i was in a strong tory seat where the lib dems were always second.....Tactical vote....

Re: Are you left or right?
Strangely enough the questionnaire showed me with strong support for the Lib dems , slightly less for Labour, and less again for the Greens.
Like Ivan, I will of course be voting Labour - hoping that the Labour reps don't hop into bed with ultra right wing racist groups as UKIP seem to have from time to time

I'm 1. Green 2. Lib Dem 3. Labour, apparently (although they were all in the 40-35% range). -5% UKIP as well.
This is worth a gander, by the way, if you get a chance to look at it. Farage having a an absolute 'mare.

When it came to UKIP, I scored -44.4.
The video of Farage’s interview with James O’Brien was posted here last Friday:-

Re: Are you left or right?
Apologies, Ivan. I didn't see it there. The best bit is when Farage doesn't know the homophobic comments come from someone who is already a UKIP councillor. When he suggests they'll face disciplinary measures from the party, it's pointed out the comments were made in February.
Having said all that, if UKIP take votes away from the Tories in the next general election to the extent that Labour gain a majority, I'll put up with them in the short term.

Re: Are you left or right?
Dan Fante. No problem. Forumotion asks us not to post the same message twice, but as two of us posted the link once each on different boards that may not count! Anyway, it's a fantastic interview and well worth seeing twice!
UKIP's main constituency seems to be older white men who are looking for scapegoats for their own failings and inadequacies. Having mopped up a fair chunk of the working class Tory and Essex white van man vote, I fear they are tapping in to some of the Labour vote now. Of course UKIP appeals to racists and has virtually put the BNP out of business, while EDL and Britain First supporters have been seen at UKIP gatherings, most recently in Margate. It's become a very nasty phenomenon.

My result was almost the same, with 33-point-something for each Party, which might suggest paralysis of the critical faculties.

Call me a cynic, but these results might also suggest that the Green Party could have sponsored this questionnaire.....

Hi stu
Yes I think so. Not sure why I can't receive private messages. I'll go and adjust my settings. Ghost is asking after you though so I told him you were over here and would be back after we had fumigated the other forum.
You'll be pleased to know that Marilyn has got the boot with all her homophobic ranting and rabidity. Thankfully, the moderators saw the wisdom of getting rid of her and her criminal posts. Darren is still causing trouble but he will get bored soon, I'm sure.
Hope you are feeling better. Take care x
