Welcome and introductions - Page 8 Empty Welcome and introductions

Post by witchfinder Fri Oct 07, 2011 1:40 pm

First topic message reminder :

Around the autumn of 2007 I came across the MSN message boards and found one entitled "UK Politics" which I joined and enjoyed for over three and a half years, then around April 2011 MSN decided in their wisdom to close down that particular message board.

Over time the MSN message board posters had become like friends, and though I had never met any of them, they became as familiar as the regulars I have a pint with in the local village pub, one or two were fairly nasty and quite vile, most were very pleasant people.

Fortunately, one of the redundant MSN bloggers (Ivan) decided to start his own political blogging site, and many of the old MSN posters followed him to his newly created site, and after a competition to find a name, it was agreed to call it "Cutting Edge".

I have to point out that Ivan ran things in a very fair and democratic way, the members decided the rules, they chose the name and logo, several of us were appointed as moderators and common sense prevailed.

Unfortunately the host of our board was "ProBoards" whom I would definately NOT recommend to anyone, they pulled the plug and closed Cutting Edge down saying that we had broken the rules.
To this day we still do not know what rule(s) were broken, and by whom, we wrote very polite emails to ProBoards asking for an explanation, but we got no answer other than "you broke the rules".

And so here we are WELCOME

mmhmm,

I was a member of Cutting Edge before I joined Crap or Lifestyle, the " good people " are all familiar with my forthright style of debating and unlike a few deranged moderators I could mention, do not consider me a troll for being a contentious polemic. Fortunately I have a big heart and forgive you all for your victimization and persecution of my good self. Your fascist forum will like all totaliterian regimes moderate itself into vacuous apathy, commonly known as Karmalisation.

Hope you are well dear. Cool

You moderatei it, ol' dear, it does not matter whose forum it is, any senile old fool would understand this.

and if there's one thing in this big, wide world I'm not interested in, it's your forgiveness.

Your lack of interest is a pretence, like most of the moderator drivel you post,
you come back anytime you want and we will discuss how you are not responsible for your own participation. lolol

I'm well, and will remain so until I'm not well. Hope you do the same. .

Try and not take the internet so personally, and try and make your statements less autistic and butt hurt.

Off you pop dear, shooting fish in a barrel bores me.

To all involved parties:

The LAST thing we want on a *welcome* thread is a fight. How will that look to new members? I don't really care if people bicker with each other, but this isn't the thread for it. PMs work just as well.

Thanks. Very Happy

Hello Shirina,

I agree entirely, mmhmm and her bottom feeding sidekick SL should know better, but in their simple minds its not their fault because its not their forum. Basketball

Soo, Tosh, ol' bean ... you gonna troll these poor folks? I sure hope not. They're good people with a nice forum..

A simple hello would have sufficed, and I don't troll good people only over inflated egos such as theirs. bounce

Dictionary definition of WELCOME: : to greet hospitably and with courtesy or cordiallity: to accept with pleasure occurrence or presence. .

Indeed, however a self appointed authority can redefine WELCOME to:

Soo, Tosh, ol' bean ... you gonna troll these poor folks? I sure hope not. They're good people with a nice forum..

Its tragic how a small modicum of power affects small minds. Cool

Tosh. Shirina has asked you to pack it in, please respect that. This board is for new members to introduce themselves and be welcomed by others, not for issues from elsewhere to be revisited.

This forum is a relatively peaceful place most of the time, and we intend to keep it that way. We're also grateful that moonbeam, who has a forum of her own to administer, makes the time to moderate here and give us the benefit of her experience. Some people, such as Shirina and moonbeam, are 'givers'; others tend to be just 'takers', don't they?

Post by Tosh Sun Aug 19, 2012 12:55 pm

Good afternoon Ivan,

Tosh. Shirina has asked you to pack it in, please respect that.

I do not believe Shirina's request was directed soley at moi, I seem to recall " all involved parties " being mentioned.

This board is for new members to introduce themselves and be welcomed by others, not for issues from elsewhere to be revisited.

Indeed, may I direct you to mmhmm's and Scottish Lassies posts to me, it seems to revisit an issue from elsewhere.

This forum is a relatively peaceful place most of the time, and we intend to keep it that way.

I have no intention of disturbing the peace.

We're also grateful that moonbeam, who has a forum of her own to administer, makes the time to moderate here and give us the benefit of her experience.

Her vast experience missed the unnecessary attack on my reputation from two of her " kind ", thankfully Shirina did not. Moon's forum is infamous for its biased and over zealous moderation.

Some people, such as Shirina and moonbeam, are 'givers'; others tend to be just 'takers', don't they?.

Some " givers " take liberties with the liberty of others, be careful what you wish for. This is a message board its not UNICEF.

Take care.

Welcome and introductions - Page 8 Empty good morning

Post by boatlady Fri Aug 24, 2012 9:31 am

good morning all - I seem to have arrived in the middle of a bit of a 'domestic'
Just to introduce myself. I'm a retired social worker from Norfolk. Found my way here via Twitter (thanks Jill Segger)
Politically I'm left of centre (and moving further left as time goes on), intellectually I enjoy a debate, but get very upset when debate degenerates into sweeping generalisations and personal attacks. I'm a dog owner, a wine drinker and a lover of the Broads.
I'm probably not going to say much just at first.

That's three things you and I have in common - welcome to our forum, boatlady. And if you know and like Jill Segger, that makes four!
Very Happy

Take your time and have a good look around the forum, which is administrated by Shirina and I. When you're ready, I hope you'll enjoy some of the discussions and maybe instigate others.

Once you have made ten postings, you can send personal messages to other members, but until then, if you have any questions you can always ask them here or on the suggestions board. Thanks for joining us.

Checking in.

I believe I've been here before but managed to lose the address.

Time to try again.

I'm left leaning and enjoy reading a wide variety of opinion. While politics isn't an all consuming passion, it's stepped up in priority with the election year here in the U.S..

Why are American voters so complacent about allowing somebody else to actually cast the votes on their behalf in a Presidential Election?

Any ideas, anyone? What do they teach at an Electoral College?

I might be less interested this year if the Republican ticket were less a horror story.

My vote never counts for much as I live in a conservative county, but I speak out a little here, a little there and do what I can.

Beth,

Your vote always counts. Please listen to JL Chestnut’s personal story of “Bloody Sunday” and its aftermath.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

Regarding November 2012 and the Republican candidate, consider the following Big Pink Elephant in the middle of the living room which no one wishes to see, hear, or smell, and about which no one wishes to speak.

  • One who follows the teachings of Jesus (first name) ben Joseph (last name) the Christ (title) is properly called a “Christian”, an identification derived from the teacher’s title, “Christ.”
  • One who follows the teachings of Joseph (first name) Smith (last name) the Prophet (title) is, by the same logic, properly called a “Prophetian”, an identification derived from the teacher’s title, “Prophet.”

The Republican Candidate for President of the United States of America is not a Christian. The Republican Candidate for President of the United States of America is a Prophetian.
