Welcome and introductions
First topic message reminder :
Around the autumn of 2007 I came across the MSN message boards and found one entitled "UK Politics" which I joined and enjoyed for over three and a half years, then around April 2011 MSN decided in their wisdom to close down that particular message board.
Over time the MSN message board posters had become like friends, and though I had never met any of them, they became as familiar as the regulars I have a pint with in the local village pub, one or two were fairly nasty and quite vile, most were very pleasant people.
Fortunately, one of the redundant MSN bloggers (Ivan) decided to start his own political blogging site, and many of the old MSN posters followed him to his newly created site, and after a competition to find a name, it was agreed to call it "Cutting Edge".
I have to point out that Ivan ran things in a very fair and democratic way, the members decided the rules, they chose the name and logo, several of us were appointed as moderators and common sense prevailed.
Unfortunately the host of our board was "ProBoards" whom I would definately NOT recommend to anyone, they pulled the plug and closed Cutting Edge down saying that we had broken the rules.
To this day we still do not know what rule(s) were broken, and by whom, we wrote very polite emails to ProBoards asking for an explanation, but we got no answer other than "you broke the rules".
And so here we are WELCOME

Re: Welcome and introductions
iamjumbo, your name looked familiar to me, but I couldn't figure out where I had seen it. I've since figured it out, however. Welcome aboard!
Re: Welcome and introductions
Hi all. I suspect I know some of you from elsewhere. Looking forward to reading through the many threads.

Good afternoon, all. I don't think any of you know me, though I have seen a few of the names on Twitter I think.
Good to be here.

Another "Newbie"!!
Hi all
Just joined yesterday following an "invitation to join" message from Ivan.
I think I may have come across Ivan on one of the Yahoo Discussion Boards some time ago. If so, I liked his style there and so was more than willing to give Cutting Edge a go.
Hope I can contribute something worthwhile!

Re: Welcome and introductions
Catlover. Yes, that was me on the Yahoo boards, thanks for the kind remark.
Please have a good look over all the boards on the forum. Most posters tend to congregate around just UK politics and economics or the religion board, but there is much more to Cutting Edge.
I've lent you an avatar of one of my cats, when she was looking angry (probably when a Tory canvasser knocked on the front door). If you want to replace the pic with something of your own, please do so.

Re: Welcome and introductions
Welcome "catlover". Presumably you know from experience that "catowner" is a word of no significance for a cat.

Re: Welcome and introductions
Don't tell me! My dog wants a friend, my two cats want (and get) a servant.
At least Catlover will get on well with the other administrator, Shirina, who is also a cat person.

Re: Welcome and introductions
I'm a cat person as well. We have 5. Four of them were not really intentional, lol.
Re: Welcome and introductions
Thanks all for your very warm welcomes! Good to know there are more catlovers out there and thanks to Ivan for the lovely avatar. I shall probably keep it - at least for a while and until I work out how to replace it with one of my own.
Looking forward to contributing when I feel more confident at what I am doing! But will be quiet for next few days at least as I'm away from the computer.
Thanks again folks.

Hello all,
Someone from the Amazon forums (where the moderation had been annoying a lot of us) suggested this place was a good alternative so I thought I'd give it a whirl.

I thought I ought to say Hi as I drift in. I really must see if I can find a decent Avatar. I am another refugee from Amazon.
