Welcome and introductions
First topic message reminder :
Around the autumn of 2007 I came across the MSN message boards and found one entitled "UK Politics" which I joined and enjoyed for over three and a half years, then around April 2011 MSN decided in their wisdom to close down that particular message board.
Over time the MSN message board posters had become like friends, and though I had never met any of them, they became as familiar as the regulars I have a pint with in the local village pub, one or two were fairly nasty and quite vile, most were very pleasant people.
Fortunately, one of the redundant MSN bloggers (Ivan) decided to start his own political blogging site, and many of the old MSN posters followed him to his newly created site, and after a competition to find a name, it was agreed to call it "Cutting Edge".
I have to point out that Ivan ran things in a very fair and democratic way, the members decided the rules, they chose the name and logo, several of us were appointed as moderators and common sense prevailed.
Unfortunately the host of our board was "ProBoards" whom I would definately NOT recommend to anyone, they pulled the plug and closed Cutting Edge down saying that we had broken the rules.
To this day we still do not know what rule(s) were broken, and by whom, we wrote very polite emails to ProBoards asking for an explanation, but we got no answer other than "you broke the rules".
And so here we are WELCOME

I wonder if Blasphemer/Clive will join us. Does anyone know?

I was hoping so. If he keeps his eye on the forums he should know where to look.
I also wondered about the late Henry James. He seemed to disappear and I always enjoyed his view from the afterlife
Re: Welcome and introductions
Yes, Henry's posts became fewer and fewer and then fizzled out. Shame, a good man, and highly intelligent.

I don't know whether he was looking in after he was banned. I did invite banned people to join the exodus, but it's obviously difficult to know whether they're thereAW wrote:I wonder if Blasphemer/Clive will join us. Does anyone know?

Re: Welcome and introductions
I was about to ask about Clive. I agree about Henry James too. He was funny. We should keep bumping the thread over on Amazon for a while. It's a shame there's no personal message facility over there. I'll do it now and again as I quite like the music forum. I liked the crack on the Religion forum too but the banning of people was getting ridiculous. Especially when you consider what was ok - Holocaust denial and homophobia, for example.Bellatori wrote:AW wrote: I wonder if Blasphemer/Clive will join us. Does anyone know?

New members - please open your welcome message, which you will find on the bar near the top of every page. Thanks.
Re: Welcome and introductions
I've opened mine...sadly no gift vouchers.
My potted profile for today is that I'm staying in and having a quiet night.
Coincidentally that's one of my interesting hobbies.

I've also added a photo from a walk in The Lake District somewhere around here.
So you can see that I can be "fun to be around".

On this forum, an administrator or moderator can ban a member for 24 hours, but anything longer (3-day ban, 7-day ban or a permanent ban) can only happen if three or more of the moderation team agree to it. In an urgent case, such as if the forum was being flooded with material which could get us closed down, Shirina, our global moderator, could permanently ban a member, but so far she hasn’t had to do so.
In the two-year history of this forum, only four people have ever been permanently banned – someone who only posted adverts for his business, a hacker, a BNP supporter who plastered the forum with racist remarks and other obscenities, and the administrator of another forum who was causing trouble for us both here and on her own site. A couple of trolls have been going out of their way to try to get themselves permanently banned, but neither has quite succeeded in doing so as yet.
Some people get annoyed, usually with me, for merging very similar threads or moving them to the most appropriate boards, and several have chosen to leave Cutting Edge as a result, but that’s a different story!
Re: Welcome and introductions
Thanks Ivan for helping me with my recent 'logging in' problems.
Always remember to credit me with that top line, and quote it when I get banned!

Hello
Hi, I'm over from the amazon forums on the recommendations of a few others. Going to see how this one grabs me.

Apparently if you buy all Adam & The Ants sheet music from Amazon, they'll throw in a stand & deliver, and it wont cost you all your money or your life.

Re: Welcome and introductions
Well hi, I was pointed in this direction after losing my patience with the Amazon forums for about the last time
A forum that times out every time you post is a bit of an embarrasment and more than frustrating so I figured I'd give this place a try
Anyway I'm Steve (or Myth I guess)

Welcome Steve (or Myth).
You can get timed out on this forum if you take too long over a post, as I found out to my cost.
I would advise anyone posting a message of more than just a few lines to write it elsewhere and then to copy it to here.

Re: Welcome and introductions
I'm used to phpBB so I know the general rules to it, the Amazon forums would time out when I typed a four word reponse at times though it seemed like every other post was being sent off into the nether never to be seen again
Don't imagine me having much trouble or at least a similar issue as I know my way around phpBB I actually moderate on another forum that uses it as well

Re: Welcome and introductions
Hi everybody,
A good friend pointed me in your direction.
A wee bit about me.
Scot of English extraction. Pro-indy, Pro-Europe, Pro harmony & integration, broad belief in social democracy, anti-nuclear, anti-war. I guess I'm probably a humanist. Other than that I am a triathlete and ultra runner, am married with 3 canine children, and do some exploring in a motorhome when we have chance.
Look forward to joining in.
Lee

Re: Welcome and introductions
Good evening. I'm a newbie. Via Twitter Ivan invited me to join. I hope at some point I can add some piercing observations, unless it's a Kipper and then I tend to get insulting.
I belong to another Forum: Flythenest inhabited by like minded people and with lots of good links. I can see I'm going to be busy.

Trust you extend the same feelings toward a curvaceous lady with blue blood .
And a beautiful blue perm .
You will recognise me as I am always photographed holding a rolled up Daily Telegraph , ready to wallop any socialists I come across after I have encouraged them to " Grow Up "
