Of course there is more we do not know than that which we do know and there lies the problem.
No, your problem is you do not accept or do not understand what we do know, to be honest I am not sure you are technicaly sane.

Insulting posts that have nothing to do with the discussion beyond this point will be deleted. Well that obviously had no effect, so it's open season.

You could emulate Charlie Chaplin, who ate his boots in the film "Gold Rush". You don't appear to possess sufficient sensibilities to be able to discern any difference.
Enjoy!

'Proof' Jesus was married found on ancient papyrus that mentions how son of God spoke of his wife and Mary Magdalene
A recently uncovered fragment of ancient papyrus makes the explosive suggestion that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were man and wife, researchers say.
The 8cm by 4cm fragment supports an undercurrent in Christian thought that undermines centuries of church dogma by suggesting the Christian Messiah was not celibate.
The centre of the fragment contains the bombshell phrase where Jesus, speaking to his disciples, says 'my wife', which researchers believe refers to Magdalene.

(Extract)
Contrary to some current interpretations, the Cana wedding account is not about Mary being the mother of the bridegroom and Jesus getting married. Whatever else one might want to say about this story, clearly one doesn’t talk about the bridegroom at a Jewish wedding being “invited” to the wedding, as John does in 2:2, and after a Jewish wedding the groom does not go home with his mother, as does in John 2:12!

So it's OK to accept a late 4th century document, but not 1st and 2nd century documents?

I have no difficulty whatever in visualising a bridegroom who might have gone home with his mother, Topcat.

IF Jesus was the physical manifestation of god, he impregnated his own mother. Mary got knocked up by someone other than her husband and also by her son. Hookers and incest, they are probably from Texas.

Terrible are the consequences of incest. I would suggest that the mental effects upon someone are much closer to home than Texas.
Any ideas as to anyone in particular who are showing signs of the said affliction?

I have studied all the relevant complaints and illnesses regarding the mental state of a person and unfotunately there appears to be no known one that can be classified for Tosh, he has obviously surpassed all reasonable thinking and lives in a world of his own.

We are all brought up to believe in Santa, as we acquire knowledge we realise Santa does not exist.
The Sage of Cutting Edge suggests this process indicates arrogance, and we should all remain childlike with our childish notions.
Somebody please tell me this chap is pretending to be thick.

I may be an atheist but I am a true believer in altruism, " there but for the grace of God go I " ( excuse the oxymoron) is the rationale behind my compassion and my willingness to sacrifice, we are all products of our genes and our environment or as a theist would say " children of God".
Secular universal values are just watered down Christian values without all the misogyny and the apocalyptic voodoo.
We only differ in the degrees of altruism and the proportion of redistributing wealth, socialism cannot replace individuality, it can only compliment it.

Thatcher created the existing dog eat dog attitude. She said "there is no such thing as society, only individuals".
Socialism may not be perfect by any means although it is all the masses have to look forward to and cling to along with faith in the Lord. For some anyway, for the others, who knows?

Thatcher removed the disease of entitlement that had blighted this country for decades, and to describe attitudes as dog eat dog is a meaningless soundbite after 13 years of Labour.
Socialism may not be perfect by any means although it is all the masses have to look forward to and cling to along with faith in the Lord. For some anyway, for the others, who knows?.
The masses are not socialists because socialism did not work, if Britain had not modernised it would be Greece without the sunshine. Britains manufacturing was built around old protected markets, once globalisation freed these markets we simply could not compete and our internal market was too small to reject globalisation.
Socialism spends money that capitalism earns, its the way it should be, you can bicker about proportion but the general formula is sound.

Actually, my brother, the solution to this problem is neither individualism nor socialism. The solution is identified by Jesus.
A certain man came to Jesus and asked, “Rabbi, what is the greatest commandment?” A conversation ensued in which Jesus affirmed that the greatest commandment is that you/I shall love the Lord your/my God with all of your/my mind, heart, soul, and strength, and that the second great commandment is “like unto it”, that you/I shall love your/my neighbor as yourself/myself. Jesus goes on to teach that upon these two great commandments hang all the Law and Prophets.
What does this mean to you/me as you/I go about your/my daily life? One lesson, derived from the words “like unto it”, Tyndale’s excellent translation of the phrase from its original language, is that, as one loves God, one love’s one’s neighbor as oneself. Reversing that in both aspects, if one does not love one’s neighbor as oneself, one does no love God. So if I choose to love God, I must choose to love my neighbor as myself.
How does one love one’s neighbor as oneself? If I do not love myself, and I love my neighbor as myself, then I do not love my neighbor. If I love myself just a wee bit, and I love my neighbor as myself, then I love my neighbor just a wee bit. If I love myself off the chart, and I love my neighbor as myself, then I love my neighbor off the chart. Following Jesus’ teaching, I ought to love myself big time, as big a time as I can manage, so that I can love my neighbor at that same level.
Notice that Jesus does not teach that one shall love one’s neighbor greater than oneself. The two loves, self-love and neighbor-love, are inextricably linked. Neither individualism nor socialism offers this profoundly life-changing solution to this age-old problem.

Nice post Rock, thank you.
"Notice that Jesus does not teach that one shall love one’s neighbor greater than oneself."
In that case, Tosh must be a Christian. The problem is he just refuses to admit it.

Re: Evidence for the existence of God (Part 1)
At the risk of being called arrogant, I will state that I consider myself to be an atheist. No proof has ever been supplied that God exists, and I am confident that none will ever be found because science has fully explained how we all came to be here. We have been provided with a rational alternative.
I accept that such remarks are contentious; something along those lines helped to cause a schism between so-called atheists and agnostics on the original Cutting Edge forum. Even Richard Dawkins, who listed seven categories from strong theist (1) to strong atheist (7), placed himself in category 6 but leaning towards 7, adding that he is “agnostic only to the extent that I am agnostic about fairies at the bottom of the garden” (‘The God Delusion’, p.51).
So yes, I’ll admit to arrogance. Will those who claim to have found ‘the truth’ in ancient religious texts which don’t stand up to historical scrutiny now do the same?
