Clegg has managed to surface again!

Post by astradt1 on Fri Nov 25, 2011 10:51 pm

Today, after what seems like a couple of months in hiding, Clegg has crawled out from his bunker and made a 'bold' announcement on youth unemployment.....

He has 'promised' places on what could be called YTS v2011 but is being called 'Youth Contract', in which £1 Billion will be spent (Given to employers) over the next 3 years to provide upto 6 months work experience to the 16 to 24 year old's.........

Clegg said that the youth contract scheme would create work experience opportunities for 410,000 young people, as well as wage subsidies of £2,275 for employers to hire 160,000 young people. The subsidy, which lasts for six months, are equivalent to half the youth minimum wage.

The Confederation of British Industries (CBI) has been lobbying for the creation of a £1,500 credit for firms that take on 16-24-year old. CBI director-general John Cridland said on Friday that the youth contract "will encourage firms to take a gamble on a young inexperienced person and help tackle the scourge of youth unemployment."

Lord Sugar has already said he can see some employers take the young on for six months then get rid of them and take on new ones.........as happened in the 1980's Torys Youth Training Scheme.....the only difference between then and now is it was for only 3 month then........and 6 month now........

The other thing about this is that Clegg has not said where the money is going to come from???????

Meanwhile, some people's plans to fly away to the ski-slopes have been jeopardised by these ungrateful slouches striking about their wretched pensions!

Why can't we get our priorities right?

So if the government sets up a scheme to help kids, they've become irresponsible, if they don't they're wankers. Can't imagine where your twisted politics come from.

It was interesting just how supportive Chopper Clegg was whilst sitting behind Herr Cameron on PMQ's yesterday. When the jutified attacks came from Edd Milliband, the boy Chopper became very animated and started bouncing in his seat whilst scowling at the Labour Leader. Sure signs that he will stay as Herr Camerons arse wipe and take his party down the road of oblivion. With Lib-Dems the likes of, Clegg, Alexander, Cable, Paddy Backdown et al. What chance have they of winning a game of tiddly winks let alone an election. My only fear is, in case of another hung election result at the next GE, they may be the scum the leading party have to do a deal with, but I guess they will show us yet again how they can change sides and will turn from Conservatives (what they are now) to Labour. Better a deal with Chopper Clegg than Farage though.

The suspicion must be that Directors are paying themselves as much as possible as soon as possible, in the quiet confidence that before long there won't be any money left for anybody in the Developed Countries.

Since July, Clegg has increased his number of advisers from five to thirteen. This means that the annual salary bill just for his team in the Cabinet Office has risen from £370,000 to £860,000.

This government claims that the country is skint but can always find money when it so chooses, for such things as free schools, or even an extra £40 million for the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympics.

The assumption must be that Clegg has lined up a job for himself in Brussels, but wishes to leave his mark at Westminster.

Re: Clegg has managed to surface again!

Post by Ivan on Tue Dec 27, 2011 10:17 am

In September 2009, Nick Clegg said that government special advisers shouldn’t be paid for by the taxpayer. Now he’s part of a rancid government which claims to be so much more frugal with our money than the last one, you’d expect the Lib Dems to pay for his staff, wouldn’t you?

Yesterday it emerged that Clegg has spent £1 million of taxpayers’ money on his army of spin doctors and advisers. The latest recruit is Neil Sherlock, who, having donated nearly £85,000 to the Lib Dems, has been rewarded with a job and a generous salary at our expense.

Simon Danczuk MP (Lab, Rochdale) said: “We all know Nick Clegg has a problem keeping his promises. But if he has a shred of integrity left, he should at least make sure that he stands up for the principles he said he had, and pay his advisers' salaries out of his own party's funds rather than charging their services to the taxpayer. Neil Sherlock should not be rewarded for his donations to the Liberal Democrats with a publicly funded job. This is just one more example of Nick Clegg saying one thing before the election and doing another afterwards. It seems that when they decided to join David Cameron's Tories in Number 10, they left their principles at the door.”

In typical fashion, a Lib Dem spokeswoman was wheeled out to repeat the same tired old lie that’s been used as a justification for every broken promise of this government for over eighteen months: "The coalition needs all the advice we can get to help clean up the economic mess left by Labour and if that means hiring people who have the right business experience we'll do it.”

Well if he has Ivan it may stop him having more unfortunate encounters with the odd Tory banana skin. but then that could cost a great deal more than a million pounds ha ha. as so far Clegg is the equivalent of a guy in the brace position for a crashing Lib/Dem airline

It's probably a mistake to think of Clegg as a lightweight - after all he is Deputy Prime-Minister, which is several pay-grades above any other Liberal Politician since Lloyd George. It's likely he will have picked up some hints from Gordon Brown, who generally contrived to be below the parapet when there was stuff flying about.

Hi bobby I need to name change on your post, Clegg while sitting next to Scameron is Churchill the insurance dog he just sits there nodding in agreement Paddy Pantsdown Cable is Fable Alexander is the Red Rodent, But I can not see the people voting for the Lib/Dems at the next GE I think the UNI fees put millions off voting for them plus they are no longer the Lib/ Dem party but are the yellow Tories.

Whenever television shows the Government front bench these days, there's Cameron waving his Order-Paper at Ed Milliband like a sorceror's wand, whilst Nick Clegg sits alongside looking as though he's about to be sick on the floor.

Still, as long as they're happy together ..........

Clegg wouldn't surface again if Jo Brand had her way. She delivered the 2012 South Shields Lecture yesterday and remarked: "I've got a soft spot for Nick Clegg. It's face down on Hackney marshes with my boot on his head."

I have just watched the Andrwe Marr show a listened to Clegg. I also noticed just how like Herr Cameron he is becoming.
We all know the caricature of a motor mechanic just before giving his quote, the pursing of the lips accompanied by a sharp intake of breath, Herr Cameron has always had that habit, but I lost count the times Chopper Clegg did it during the interview with Andrew Marr. I once thought of him as Herr Cameron’s Puppet, but now all I see is a clone. And is becoming even more odious.

I watched the Andrew Marr show this morning too bobby what struck me was the use of his hands just like Scameron does in the H.O.C at PMQs I would compare Clegg too a MUPPET with Scameron pulling the strings which ever way that suits the Tories he was also speaking over Andrew as if I must get this point over as Dave will be upset at me, So i do agree with your opinion on Clegg but as we both know the public will severely punish him for turning from yellow to blue in such a short time.

Clegg has now said that the changes to the NHS must go ahead because the institution "cannot be frozen in time", conveniently ignoring the fact that in the most recent survey, patient satisfaction is at an all-time high.

So what is "cannot be frozen in time" supposed to mean? It was okay for the NHS to be a non-profit, non-private organisation from 1948 until now, yet in order to move with the times it needs private healthcare companies milking it and destroying it in return for donations to Tory coffers?

What the hell is wrong with Clegg, and more pertinently, what's wrong with the Liberal Democrats? That man is more Tory than some of the Tories, an apologist for their worst excesses who led what is supposed to be his party into a coalition of the damned, throwing out most of their policies in the process. So why are the Liberal Democrats allowing this situation to continue - are they all bereft of any principles?

It seems (I very much hope) that Horsefly and Lansleys days in Gubmint are numbered.

Both are spewing out reams of copy with NOagreement in public from the top.

this from virgin media -

NHS reforms branded a distraction
22 January 2012 03:14am
Health chiefs have said the Government's controversial NHS reforms are a "distraction" from confronting £20 billion budget savings and long-term care for the elderly.

The warning came as it was reported an influential cross-party group of MPs plans to heavily criticise the revamp of how health services are provided in England.

But ministers vowed to press on with changes, which have already been diluted from original proposals, amid calls from the Royal College of Nursing and the Royal College of Midwives to scrap the Health and Social Care Bill.

NHS Confederation chief executive Mike Farrar said: "From the outset, we have made clear the Government's reforms to the administrative structures of the NHS are a distraction in terms of addressing these fundamental challenges. We are therefore increasingly worried by the lack of clinical support for the reforms and the fact clinical opposition to the changes has hardened in recent days.

"This is a major risk. We have always said that buy-in from healthcare professionals is the key to delivering a workable set of reforms. We need some pragmatism and realism, along with the politics, if we are to steer the NHS through these incredibly choppy waters."

Guilt-by-association is a charge to which the Lib-Dems can have no defence.

Although obviously not the primary purpose, the local elections to be held in May will nevertheless provide the Public with its first opportunity to express an opinion on the conduct of the National government since 2010.

I ask could a leadership challenge in the Lib-Dems, bring down the coalition before the end of this Parliamentary term ?

Does anyone really believe a rebranding and change of leadership will help the LibDems. Really, what could a new leader do? I believe the LibDems have gone as far as they can without actually splitting the coalition. The problem, to my small mind anyway, is that any major opposition would bring the Government down, so all they can do is nibble at policies they don't like, and claim a victory. For all the good they're actually doing the country, and the damage they're allowing, they might as well go.

Drat. That would mean another postal vote.

Like the idea of a bird as a logo. Could it be a sparrow emigrating, lost over the Sahara, never to return.

Clegg safe as Lib Dem leader

Post by astradt1 on Tue Sep 25, 2012 12:44 pm

It would seem that despite opinion polls showing that the LibDems would have a higher rating if they were to dump Clegg for Cable. Clegg is safe for the time being...

Could this have anything to do with the fact that should no party get an overall majority the Lib Dems think they could offer up Clegg as a sacrifice for joining in coalition with Labour, a bit like their wanting the head of Gordon Brown?

Granted the Lib Dems could offer more heads such as Danny Alexander (Mr Invisible), Who as I write is receiving only polite applause for his 'Key Note' speech......

I do not think he will show his face in Hallam Sheffield again looking for a seat for 2015, yesterdays speech at the conference plus all the promises that where made during conference have tied his hands if he goes back on any of what was promised his party will make sure that HIS head rolls. 1) they will stop the planning laws where you can build what you want in your back garden without getting planning permission. 2) to get something done about the private housing landlords and letting agents in the private sector, there was other amendments to that so more or less they have tied the hands of private housing landlords and there letting agents.

We wait with baited breath to see how much they cave in to the Tories once the H.O.C is back from yet again another holiday and just a few months back they where trying to stop one of the bank holidays of us PHELBS.

In the 2010 general election, the Liberal Democrats pledged to abolish student tuition fees. Six months later they voted to treble them. They promised us 3,000 extra police. Nearly 6,800 frontline police jobs have now been abolished.

They promised to allow law-abiding people who have been in Britain without the correct papers for ten years, but speak English, to earn their citizenship. Now Nick Clegg has said that he is abandoning that support for a so-called amnesty for illegal immigrants, since it was “seen by many as a reward for breaking the law".
