After 2 weeks in power it feels like it's time to start a thread on the alternative universe which Trump and his Trumpsters seem to be living in.....

Each day he reveals a new facet (alternative truth) of the place he lives in.

Today's alternative realities are that all bad poll ratings are FAKE and only good ratings are real......
The Press have under reported terror attacks such as Paris, Florida and 70+ others in spite of wall to wall coverage in the media and press.......

That's the Leader of the Free World, folks - and we don't seem to want him here.

A few years back I remember discussions on MSN about how humankind seemed to be regressing as opposed to progressing.......how apt that seems in this depressing day and age.

I believe it is the lack of organisation amongst the lower classes, the fragmenting of communities, the dumbing down despite the wealth of info on the web, and the buying into financial obligations that push many into corners of self-preservation even if it means backstabbing work colleagues etc. All these things dissipate the ability to form an effective response to, or change the course of, the neo-liberal capitalist steamroller. We have reached a point where only catastrophe can change our course.

Everything is connected.

Or perhaps because so much info is available on the web. We don't even try to remember things any more, in the knowledge that you can google a query. That complacency comes back to bite us on the bum when there's a power-cut, or the 'pooter throws a fit.

So that's the end of that then. Trump will accept defeat, won't he? Perhaps not. He's a dealmaker, and he likes to win. The greatest satisfaction comes when he can say, "I win - you lose".

Can he outsmart the Lawyers? If not, it won't have been for lack of trying. Watch that space.

I suspect Trump may be only the front man for a group of right wing 'patriots' much cleverer than he is - recent events I think may be a bit of a smokescreen designed to make us all take this government less seriously - which gives time for the real agenda to develop in the background - and that's what really scares me

Wow, boatlady!  You're threatening to turn into a cynic.  But it's entirely believable that Trump could easily be manipulated.  He really hasn't shown much maturity of intelligence so far.  He's possibly only The President because he was curious to discover just how gullible people really can be.

I was always to some extent a cynic about the behaviour of ruling elites - just don't think their behaviour should affect my own principles and behaviour.

Trump is exactly the equivalent of the fat, spoilt young of 'divine right' kings whom everyone has to pretend to respect and obey. I agree with boatlady that someone has to be running him: all he can do by himself is have tantrums.

It is evident that a number of Trump's appointments are ambitious men of a similar calibre to those who surrounded Bush following 9/11. Things are not looking good for the little people.

Was the nearest analogy I could think of - in place of Tinkerbelle et all we seem to have got a load of rich white guys waving their magic wands and transforming reality - I think it's a similar mindset, only aiming at a different effect - currently, the only thing that gives me any hope is that at least I can still ignore Donny if I want to
