A 'government of firsts'
First topic message reminder :
This government seem to be a 'government of firsts' and I don't mean honors degrees.
We recently had the first NHS Hospital to be run by a private company and today it was announced that we will see the first Police Station to be Built run and staffed by the Tories' favourite private security firm G4S....You know the ones who handle prisoners in transit and private prisons...
Any takers for a Fire Station????

G4S, Private Firm, To Run Police Station In Lincolnshire
Private security firm G4S will design, build and help run a police station in what is thought to be the first deal of its kind.
Although the deal with Lincolnshire Police Authority could save up to £28m, it has been criticised by the the Police Federation who warned private sector contracts could leave police officers "high and dry in times of national emergency".

We all know what there version of we are all in this together" Every Man for Himself", as the L/Ds will find out later when the Tories give them all the blame for the nasty decisions.
Red the Tories are eyeing up Lib/Dem seat right now....they hope lib/dem's votes will switch to them? they fact is they always brake down in favour the Labour party in breaking two to one in the Labour parties favour. unless its a Lib/Dem vs Tory seat.

Stox i tend to think that is will come out at the local elections this May they know the L/D candidate for Mayor has not got a hope in hell of winning Doris fear is Ken that is why they have started the smear campaign against Ken but the council seats will be a different story thats when the L/Ds will find out just who they jumped into bed with because when the Tory councilors go looking for votes it will be the bad old L/Ds that will get the blame for all the council cuts.

Re: A 'government of firsts'
Do we have any Lib Dem devotees on here?
The reason I ask is I'd like to know whether the majority of Lib Dems were happy when their party teamed up with the Conservatives, whether they're still happy about it if they were before, and whether they think that they are closer in ideology to the Conservatives or Labour.
It's a weird subject to approach because I'd say that the Conservatives have leapt right recently, so the answer might have changed anyway. I wish I'd been a member of this forum at the time of the election (not that it was around then anyway, but you know what I mean) to gauge a better idea.

I would imagine that any former Lib-Dem adherents now feel themselves to be in a similar position to those Bankers in December 2008 who pretended to be Accountants if anybody asked what they did.

Well the Bankers acted like accountants with our money. Turf Accountants. Still, they weren't as canny as Turf Accountants. Not many Turf accountants go 'bankrupt'.

"Banque a la banque", as they ceaselessly intone over the green baize at Monte Carlo.
(Anyone can demand to be "Banker" on the roulette table, but it takes very deep pockets or too much champagne, to exercise that right.)
