I think this is a very beautiful version of Carol of the Bells . . .
Such a beautiful season, I just wish we had snow, the old fashioned fluffy stuff that stays around for a while making the world quiet and bright.

Re: Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
A few years ago, a lady who worked for a London council was sacked after starting a meeting by saying “let’s get down to the nitty-gritty”. When John Denham, as a government minister, used that expression while addressing police officers at a conference, he was told that it was banned but he wasn’t sacked. Neither of them realised that the phrase referred to what the slave traders called the debris left at the bottom of a ship after one of those eighteenth century voyages across the Atlantic (during which, on average, one-sixth of the slaves would die).
These days the PC brigade will also pounce if you use the expression “you’re a good egg”, because it’s linked with the slang “egg and spoon” which rhymes with a derogatory name for black people. And so it goes on…..
I suspect that if a British official asked anyone for their 'Christian name' that would also be a sackable offence. When did you last fill in a form that asked for such a thing, don’t they all request your 'first name' nowadays? In reality, Britain isn’t a Christian country, since fewer than 5% of people attend church regularly (and more people go to mosques than to the Church of England). It’s bad enough having royalty rammed down our throats continuously (“old man sits in front of car after coming out of hospital”, “old man is applauded for walking 400 metres to church”), we don’t need to be force-fed religion as well.

I fear I may well transgress on the PC front several times a day, although this will not be deliberate , in the main.
To anyone whom I may inadvertently offend in any way on these boards I can only say : I don't really care one bit...

Re: Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
It's that time again.
Just like to take the opportunity of wishing you all a peaceful and happy Christmas, followed by a prosperous and successful New Year.
All I want for Christmas (I got my two front teeth a few years back) is a safe place to call my own, where I can be safe and warm, enough to eat and a chance to be with loved ones - oh, yes, Father Christmas, I want the same for everyone else too.

Merry christmas to all you socialists! That was nice of you to realise that not everyone has a christmas pud!
Merry christmas to all you tories! That was nice of you to take your pud, hide it up your jumper, uttering "it's mine!"
Merry christmas to all you LibDems! That was nice of you to lie and tell everyone that it's easter!
Merry christmas to all you UKippers! That was nice of you, building that big wall and then realising you've no ingredients to make your pud with!

NO Europe NO
It is new year morning 2013.I have been given the job of mixing the sage&onion stuffing.
I read the instructions on the box.250ml of boiling water.
What in the name of sanity is 250ml.
Line up three jugs with measure markings.
Loads of gobble de gook.Fluid ounces.Litres.Mile Litres.
Ah I think I have found it.
What in the name of sanity is wrong with pints and half pints.
Time we were telling Europe to get stuffed(sage&onion)of course and get back
to doing things the British way.
HAPPY NEW YEAR cutting edgers.

Cameron's festive gifts
Below is a few ideas for Christmas presents that I think would be ideal for the PM to help to take his mind off his failed policies and tanking political career.
1) Fisher Price train set to help him over the disappointment of not getting his HS2 train line on track, with Tory MPs against it along with the big businesses, the ones that pour thousands into Tory party funds.
2) The game of Operation. Not content in ripping the guts from one of the UK most prestigious instutions, the NHS, this would allow Cameron and Hunt to play till their little black hearts are content with no impact on the rest of us!
3) The game of Monopoly, allowing him and Osborne to have their own housing BOOM & BUST. All buy to let pilot schemes welcome, at least here the predicted implosion will have no effect on the sick, disabled, vulnerable people of the UK. Unregulated utilities companies can charge the ARM AND LEG they wish, were anyone actually needing to having amputation surgery to afford the prices.
Modern age has eliminated the use of gender stereotyping toys for both sexes (girls get dolls, boys get guns). Here with the use of games that the majority of us grew up with will allow Cameron and Co to play politics and practise till they get it right instead of using the majority of the UK as guinea pigs.
I would like to invite you all for your ideas on what you would give Cameron as a christmas gift, and not his P45 there will be millions in that queqe ahead of you.

Blueturando that would be a great festive gift for Cameron and those that voted for War with Syria, how about for the TWELVE DAYS of christmas in duration.

Blueturando I think quite a lot of people would help you to pay for that one-way ticket so that most of that burden does not fall on your shoulders.

Merry Giftmas
I would like to invite everybody to celebrate the merry season of giftmas.
It's just a way for an atheist to celebrate this time of year in a way similar to the feast days of the major religions. We can celebrate by having lots of presents for our families and friends and we might even cut down a tree so that we can bring it indoors and decorate.
However you celebrate giftmas I wish you indeed a merry merry giftmas.
