Is this another Tory scandal brewing? (Part 2)
First topic message reminder :
Maybe Goves wife will provide the job seekers with the money to buy her expensive facial creams, and maybe while she is at it she could take them out and buy them a new outfit to attend there interview with so they can get a zero hour contract job.

I hope when this corrupt Tory government is kicked out that the crooks running it end up in the dock at the Old Bailey. Maybe Cameron could share a cell with his mate Andy Coulson?
Fresh inquiry will examine public funding of defunct charity with links to PM
From an article by Oliver Wright:-
The National Audit Office said it would examine whether “systemic problems” had affected the way grants were given to the Big Society Network by the cabinet office and the Big Lottery Fund. The Network, which was launched by Cameron in 2010, was given at least £2.5 million of National Lottery funding and public-sector grants, despite having no record of charitable activity. Its charitable arm, the Society Network Foundation, has now been wound up, having used much of the money on projects that came nowhere near achieving their promised objectives.
The inquiry is likely to look at links between the charity and senior figures in Downing Street and the Conservative Party, and to find out whether pressure was brought to bear to ensure the Network received public funding. One of the trustees of the charity was close to Cameron’s former advisor Steve Hilton and another was a significant Conservative donor.
Lisa Nandy, shadow minister for civil society, said: “We are still in the dark about how millions of pounds of public money were squandered by an organisation with no track record but strong links to the Conservative Party”.

Re: Is this another Tory scandal brewing? (Part 2)
Having seen today that those who make unkind references to others on public media are to face two years in prison , I should like to take this opportunity to say how much I have admired Mr Cameron's entire Cabinet of colleagues and how I feel sure these splendid men and women have always had the best interests of all the nation's people at heart. Accordingly, those accidental references I may have made to 'uncaring bastards' in any postings should be totally ignored.
Will that do, and where do I sign, officer...?

The National Lottery (They now prefer to call it Lotto) is the only government tax which is quite popular, though it is accurately described as a direct tax on the Poor.
The Government "rake-off" is half the proceeds, before winnings are calculated, which may make it cheaper to fly to Las Vegas for your gambling.

The stench of Tory corruption continues unabated. Anything on the BBC news about this?
Labour demands inquiry into chief probation inspector
From an article by Alan Travis:-
Labour has demanded an immediate inquiry into allegations of a conflict of interest involving the chief inspector of probation. ‘The Guardian’ reported that Paul McDowell faced questions after Sodexo Justice Services, where his wife is deputy managing director, was named as preferred bidder for six out of 21 regional contracts to take over parts of the probation service in England and Wales next year.
The shadow justice secretary, Sadiq Khan, has written to the Commons justice select committee asking them to summon McDowell and the justice secretary, Chris Grayling, to question them about McDowell’s suitability for the watchdog role. Khan said he was alarmed at reports that the justice ministry failed to mention the link to Sodexo before the committee endorsed McDowell after a scrutiny hearing last autumn: "It is possible that had the justice select committee been made aware of the full facts, the pre-appointment scrutiny might have reached a different conclusion. I therefore feel strongly that the secretary of state should also be summoned to appear before your committee to fully explain the process."

I'm not sure you can call it a 'scandal' any more when it's so blatant - surely to be a 'scandal' someone has to be 'scandalised'? - preferably someone who can do something about it?

Why, it's US. We have a vote each next May that used wisely can tell the whole useless bunch what we think of them.

South East has done nothing but the majority of them vote Tory bobby except yourself and a few others that believe in the Labour party. And I would say that most of the people in the SE provide the funds of the Tory party because its only bankers and hedge fund managers can afford to buy their homes in the SE.

I don't suppose 'The Daily Mail' will consider this worthy of its front page; it's nowhere near as important as a bacon sandwich or lying about how much Ed Miliband put in a beggar's paper cup.

“Eric Pickles’ ever expanding…..” No, we’re not talking about the Tory fat cat’s waistline on this occasion.
Eric Pickles' Luxury Limo Bill Passes £500,000 Mark
From an article by Chris York:-
Eric Pickles' ever-expanding and taxpayer-funded luxury limo bill has passed the half a million pound mark in just three years. He spent £247,775 in 2012, £185,935 in 2013 and £103,091 in the first six months of 2014 alone. That's a grand total of £536,801, despite telling councils they need to save money on travel costs.
Pickles said in 2012: "Councils must keep doing their bit to tackle the inherited budget deficit because they account for a quarter of all public spending and still get through over £114 billion of taxpayers money each year. Councils that put their thinking caps on now can save precious taxpayer pennies next year by cutting out waste and transforming frontline services that vulnerable people rely on."
Labour has called the sums "seriously wasteful activity". Shadow cabinet office minister Jon Ashworth, said: "Mr Pickles should be cutting costs, not driving around in luxury courtesy of the taxpayer." When Pickles became communities secretary in 2010 he incurred the wrath of environmentalists by swapping his predecessor's £20,000 hybrid Toyota Prius to a £70,000 gas-guzzling Jaguar.

The stench of sleaze and corruption is never far away from Boris Johnson…….
Big questions for Boris over billion dollar property deal
By Michael Crick:-
"Boris Johnson is under fire over his handling of a £1bn deal for a Chinese firm to redevelop a huge site on London's historic Royal Albert Dock. This follows an investigation by Channel 4 News into the track record in China of the firm which won the contract - ABP - and into whether ABP were given favourable treatment during the tender process. There are also questions over donations to the Conservative Party from an Anglo-Chinese businesswoman who acted as adviser to ABP.
In May 2013, Advanced Business Park - known as ABP - was granted the tender to develop the 35-acre site at the Royal Albert Dock, a derelict site opposite London's City Airport. It is thought to be China's largest property investment in the UK.
Xuelin Black is an Anglo-Chinese businesswoman who is married to the home office minister Lord Bates. Black suggested the Royal Dock site to the boss of ABP, Xu Weiping, and even registered a company called ABP London China to help push the project forward, though the company was dissolved two years later, and she says she established it without the knowledge of Xu Weiping. Between 2010 and 2012 Xuelin Black gave donations which total at least £162,000 to the Conservative Party. Since ABP won the contract these big donations have dried up.
Should Johnson have done more to examine ABP's background, and did the cosiness of his people with ABP mean that the whole process was not a level playing field, and therefore unfair to the dozen other bidders for the development, most of whom were British?"

It should be pointed out that the oft-criticised BBC made quite a lengthy meal of it , with their reporter seeming to want to emphasise just what a career-ending and humiliating moment it was for the despicable Mitchell.
And I can't imagine the Tory-loving Sun will exactly let him off lightly.
Just occasionally, there is some justice in the world...
