Are the Tories velvet glove fascists? - Page 21 Empty Are the Tories velvet glove fascists?

First topic message reminder :

In my opinion, the UK under our extreme right-wing government is rapidly degenerating into velvet glove fascism.

Like all fascists, Hitler was against trade unions and socialists. Similarly, Michael Gove vilified primary school teachers and dinner ladies, many of whom went on strike for the first time in their lives on 30 November last year, as “militants itching for a fight”. Gove has plans for military cadets in every school (Cameron Youth?) and a return to children sitting in rows reciting lists of kings and queens in history lessons, rather than learning to think. Hitler also realised how important history was to indoctrination when he ordered the mass burning of books. Tories close libraries.

Hitler made sure that he controlled the media. The Tories have cowed the BBC by threats of fragmentation and sharing the licence fee with others, such as Murdoch. The BBC, which was required to be impartial, has become just another mouthpiece for Tory propaganda. As soon as they came to power in 2010, the Tories instructed every minister to repeat over and over again the whopping lie that Labour, not Tory bankers, caused the global credit crisis. We have the repeated lie about everyone in the public sector getting “gold-plated pensions”, when the average is only £5,600 per annum. As Goebbels said: "If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it." Cameron has proved over and over again that he’s a pathological liar.

Hitler divided and ruled the German people by scapegoating Jews and gypsies. The Tories are demonising those who receive benefits, one result of which is that disability hate crimes are increasing. Duncan Smith went on breakfast television on 27 May 2010 and made the chilling remark: "Work makes you free". That's an exact translation of the sign which used to hang over the entrances to concentration camps.

The Tories have plans to force 50,000 disabled youth to work for companies such as Sainsbury's and Tesco's unpaid. Cancer patients are being made to undergo work assessments while being treated with chemotherapy, and wounded soldiers are being sacked. (Osborne is willing to take money from the disabled and cancer patients, but not prepared to veto Hester's bonus from the largely state-owned RBS.)

The police are being trained to shoot people with rubber bullets and will be issued with water cannon, yet the Tories were so keen on helping Arab rebels in North Africa. Two unknown Scottish teenagers made a joke on 'Facebook' about organising riots, and they both received four years in jail. A prominent Tory TV presenter (and personal friend of Cameron) made a tasteless joke about murdering trade unionists on prime time television; nothing was done about it and the BBC continue to pay him £1 million a year of our money.

We don't have any concentration camps in the UK, but the principles are the same - propaganda, indoctrination, and divide and rule by demonising a section of the population. While Hitler gassed Jews, the Tories clearly don't care if benefit claimants starve to death. Even payments from the Social Fund, for those in the most desperate need, will no longer be available from job centres but will be at the 'discretion' of local councils, who will not have to ring-fence the money. All the ingredients of fascism are there, but it's just being handed out to us in a more genteel form than Hitler used - in velvet gloves.

Poor Ivan, I've never said it illegal, they've simply circumnavigated the tax system exactly as all the major companies do, I've yet to here you defend them for doing what a major (small m) political party does. Basketball

These same companies circumnavigate the cost of their employment bill so that the Welfare state has to pay their employees working tax credits so they are able to pay their normal household bills, knowing that the Tories want to takes us back to the 80s where employers did not pay a minimum wage so that people had to spend most of the week working so family life did not exist in the majority of homes right across the UK.

Fascism is the merger of state and corporate power. This has been happening at a pace under our Tory-dominated regime, the most right-wing government the UK has had in living memory.

Serco: the company that is running Britain

John Harris writes:-

“From prisons to rail franchises and even London's Boris bikes, Serco is a giant global corporation that has hoovered up outsourced government contracts. Now the NHS is firmly in its sights. But it stands accused of mismanagement, lying and even charging for non-existent work.

Serco’s range of activities, here and abroad, is truly mind-boggling, taking in no end of things that were once done by the state, but are now outsourced to private companies. Amazingly, its contracts with government are subject to what's known as ‘commercial confidentiality’ and as a private firm it's not open to Freedom of Information requests, so looking into the details of what it does is fraught with difficulty.”

Please read the whole of this frightening article:-
http://www.theguardian.com/business/2013/jul/29/serco-biggest-company-never-heard-of

One of the readers (‘TheBigCon’) commented:-

Big businesses give some money to the Tories. The Tories give them public service contracts at big monopolistic profit margins. The taxpayer subsidises the contract, pays more for a worse service and the politicians walk into a massive salaried job at the end of the parliament. The Lib Dems nod it through even though it goes against their political philosophy; they dare not walk away from their little bit of power because they are putting off their electoral annihilation. This has got to be the worst government ever!!”

Another (‘voltaire17’) said:-

“These contracts suit the Tories because the work can never have the level of public scrutiny which we have for publicly run institutions. Also it allows them to never claim any responsibility for failings. We have so little actual control, and even if they prove to be a disaster like G4S at the Olympics, none of their contracts are revoked. It's a scandalous waste of precious public resources. The Taxpayers' Alliance are noticeably silent on this issue, because of course they are a sham; more Tax Avoiders' Alliance. Public amenities and services should stay public.”

Horrifying, not surprising.
Once the first outsourced contracts went out - how many years ago? - and we discovered that outsourcing just gives you less for more, I'd have thought any responsible government would have run a mile from any more.

Obviously, we don't have a responsible government, and maybe never have since the '80's

The Tories are at least consistent, they don't believe that Government should carry out tasks which can be performed by a private enterprise company - even if all the profits are siphoned back to America.

I think OW this stems from the fact that anything they need doing at home they have employed a LACKY on crap wages to do everything for them, so looking at the public sector their mindset is switched to get someone else cheaper to do that job, plus they do not believe of public sector that is Tory Ideology.

Lynton Crosby can do what he likes to TRY and get the Tories back into power in 2015, nobody from the Watford Gap up is going to vote Tory or Lib-Dem because they know things will only get worse for them under a Tory gov't.   An old Proverb blue "YOU CAN DRAG A HORSE TO THE WELL BUT CAN NOT MAKE IT DRINK" I think you will understand that if you choose to.cheers

Wow! What a profound posting. It must have taken you all day to research it. Rolling Eyes

It seems to me that Cameron is so scared of losing to Ed Miliband that he needs to ‘invest’ £220k a year employing ‘the lizard of Oz’, the racist dirty tricks specialist from Australia who also lobbies for a tobacco company. Why aren’t you condemning Cameron for wallowing in the gutter with such filth?

Crosby is so sick that he fed John Howard’s ministers in Australia with a false story about asylum seekers throwing their children overboard from ships. He then worked for Michael Howard in 2005, coining the insidious slogan “Are you thinking what we’re thinking?” Tim Fenton writes:-

“Race baiting is the name of the Crosby game. Michael Howard looked distinctly uncomfortable with the idea, and no wonder, given his own family history. Now he is doing it for Young Dave, who, along with his jolly good chaps, is looking the other way. The 'racist van', along with the UKBA hit squads, are not aimed at overstaying Aussies: there are no stop and search tactics being carried out at Old Trafford.”

These hit squads are stopping people at random at places like tube stations, demanding to see their papers. How reminiscent of 1930s Germany! How Hitler would have been proud of the Tories. But it doesn’t end with Crosby. Cameron is so scared of losing to Ed Miliband that he’s also spent money signing up an American spin doctor, someone who was behind one of the most homophobic political adverts in US history.

Aren’t the Tories lucky that they have so much dirty money, from all those backhanders from private health companies and other corporations who are being sold state assets on the cheap? How much lower can this corrupt government stoop? Cameron is scum, and so is anyone who supports him.

A great post Ivan and very true, the Tories thinks its OK to sell things that they do not own a case of FRAUD comes to mind. As for the American he has hired to help him win the 2015 general election, no matter how many advisors he hires nobody from the Watford Gap upwards is going to vote Tory no matter how many LIES and SPIN they spout.  The reason that nobody from the North EAST or WEST will vote for him they know his Manifesto will be a "CROCK OF SHYTE" , once he gets into power just like his Lies of 2010 things will only get worse for the honest hard working people of the UK. The five years from 2010-2015 have been bad enough people know it will be more cuts for the low paid sick & disabled and he will stoop that low to bring back the Workhouses (that is already in the pipeline) even Tory voters will be changing their voting due to the Fracking and HS2 train that is running through safe Tory seats and soon that will be a thing of the past thanks to GREEDY SELF CENTRED Cameron and the VILE Tories

Are the Tories velvet glove fascists? - Page 21 Empty The death of satire - an important appeal

Post by skwalker1964 Mon Aug 26, 2013 9:46 pm

Original including links at wp.me/p2sftc-8M4

As 38 Degrees and other campaign groups have highlighted, the government’s “Transparency of Lobbying, Non-Party Campaigning and Trade Union Administration Bill” threatens (among many other bad things) to make it practically impossible to expose government lies and misdeeds in the run-up to an election, not to mention hamstringing the main form of organised representation left to ordinary people, by inflicting yet another evisceration on unions.

If the letter of the law is applied, even satire, as a tool of highlighting the absurdity of government attitude and policy, could be prosecutable if it can be considered as attempting to influence people’s voting intentions. This move by the government will effectively make dissent illegal – and has been condemned even by Conservative blogs such as The Spectator.

But while stifling dissent by members of the public, it would be incredibly naive to think that this bill will prevent the main reason given for its introduction – the influence of lobbyists. Big Corporate will still spend huge sums influencing politicians – effectively buying policy.

The death of satire and the continuing, even growing, influence of wealthy companies and individuals on government policy – that’s our future if this bill is rammed through Parliament, as seems likely.

So, while satire is still legal, film-maker and SKWAWKBOX reader Jon LeBrocq, whose excellent guest post ‘Love letters to a Tory MP‘ can be found here, has decided to use it to highlight the real problem – and hopefully to raise funds to promote awareness of it even further.

In a stroke of genius, John has launched a satirical – yet deadly serious – crowdfunding appeal to raise funds to buy back some government policy.

After all, buying back what should be ours in the first place is hardly without precedent – only this month, £53 million of public money was spent to ‘buy back’ a privately-run NHS surgical centre because of several avoidable deaths (strangely without the media fanfare that accompanies fictional avoidable deaths in proper NHS hospitals).

The satirical appeal to buy the government’s interest in our wellbeing, which should have been ours all along, is a crucial means of raising awareness of what’s being done by this robber-government as it exploits a corrupt politics. Its nominal aim, to raise £100,000 to buy some policy, echoes the infamous offer that £100k is a ‘premier league’ donation that will guarantee serious attention from the PM.

Are the Tories velvet glove fascists? - Page 21 Buybac10

You can visit it here – and I encourage you to do so. It’s a humourous moment that will bring a bitter-sweet smile to your face – with a deadly serious message that needs to be spread.

And if you can afford to chip in a few quid, please do. Any money that is raised will go toward continuing and enlarging the satire – for example by making a film on the appeal that should go viral to the embarrassment of this government and any corrupt or venal politician.

As a follow-up to Steve Walker’s post above:-

The Tory-dominated government is intending to rush through Parliament in early September an enormous threat to free speech in the form of the Transparency of Lobbying, Non-Party Campaigning and Trade Union Administration Bill. It appears to overrule Article 19 of the UN Convention on Human Rights, which we know right-wing politicians would dearly love to scrap. If this fascist legislation is passed, it seems that the 2014 TUC conference will be illegal, and from next May we may not even be able to criticise our evil government on this forum. Cameron is running so scared that he doesn’t want any dissent - or the truth coming out about him and his fellow spivs - in the year before a general election.

We've all heard Tory platitudes about "freedom for the individual", but it only seems to apply when it suits the corrupt, lying hypocrites. Instead of reading irrelevant, mindless claptrap from the cerebrally challenged about Diane Abbott, I strongly recommend that you study this frightening letter from Richard Murphy to Chloe Smith MP:-

Just imagine : if Gove had been available to meet the visitor and his camera, we might all have had to lay eyes on the obnoxious little creep and be forced to listen to some garbage delivered pompously in that 'fourth-form snitch' voice of his.

Have just been listening to "Any Questions" followed by "Any Answers" (on BBC radio 4). One of the panel said we should be very worried about the "gagging bill" and warned that the Tories are going to rush this through within the next two weeks, we MUST not forget the Tories will do anything to get back into power in 2015 and that means EVERY DIRTY TRICK in the book, I would not put it pasr them to do something against the law of the land because they know they can cover it up when they get back into power. Just think the Prostitute party will not have enough MPs with seats after 2015 general election to go into coalition, not that they stopped the Tories and their Nasty Bills, that leaves UKIP the second hand Tory party and most people know what who happen if those two get together, Workhouses for those out of work sick disabled and more plainly if you are not earning £100,000 plus.

No wonder Labour members and voters are worried about what is going on within the Labour party, only today more trouble within the Labour party not missing the Unions instead of both the leader of the Labour party and leaders of the Unions sitting around a table and sorting out their differences. They are leading up too what happened in Austrailia happening here in 2015, so come 2015 general election and the UK gets another Tory gov't, both Labour party and the Unions will be partly to BLAME for what the people of the UK will suffer under a Tory gov't, and I have said so on twitter.pokenest

But in this case OW, "Every nation gets the gov't it voted for" as long as that gov't was good at lying and pulling the wool over the voters' eyes.

blueturando. Yes, it is a tasteless picture - the sight of that collection of scum is enough to make anyone vomit.

No doubt it was okay when your beloved Thatcher referred to our coal miners as "the enemy within".

Iain Duncan Smith's attack on the sick and disabled has resulted in the deaths of far more people than those evil bastards managed to achieve in London on 7/7.

A striking thing about the picture for me, is that the group is predominantly middle aged, male, and white - maybe not entirely representative of the citizens they are there to serve?

boatlady. Of the four women in that photo, three have since been sacked! What a Face

What the photo doesn't show is their vast collective wealth and their educational background. Most if not all of them are part of both the richest 1% in the country and the 7% who go to public schools. As you suggest, they're not very representative of the people they're meant to serve.

(Now wait for a Tory apologist to come along and say "Labour are just the same". They're not, and Ed Miliband went to a comprehensive school. There will also be a lot more women in the next government than this one.)

All of which may be quite helpful, as it provides The People with a clear picture of the enemy.

I think Labour need to play on this when the Tories inevitably bring out the dirty tricks when campaigning for the election begins in earnest. The current government could have come from a whole different era of politics in terms of their backgrounds. It's almost like the twentieth century never happened.
